Shipping is free for terminal pickup in the continental US. If you need home delivery, a residential and lift gate fee applies and it’s right at $250 for most carriers, so that’s the reason for the fee. It has to be a business in a commercial area, or they will charge for it. And, while most of us have forks to pick the pallet off the truck and plenty of space to turn around, they are still going to charge for it. It’s not about the logic, it’s the LTL business model…you can’t try to make sense out of it on a case by case basis. With that out of the way; here’s what you want to know about the product: Warranty is 5 years on the motor, but if yours breaks after that time, give me a ring. There is a good chance we can get you up and running without any additional cost to you. That said, these things are simple and not likely to break after 5 years assuming it didn’t break after the first few uses. The optional cradle is meant to fit on class 2 fork frames. This is most fork frames until you get into huge equipment, but there is a class 1 that some small tractors have. What you need to look for is the distance between the top of your top bar and the bottom of your bottom bar. It should be 16″ Previously, I offered a fork frame and forks, but I no longer offer that option. Most people have forks, and there are a number of places to get forks if you don’t have some. I was offering them at my cost, but given they have gotten cheaper and cheaper, it no longer makes sense for me to spend my time on this. How much torque does it have? If you’re within the 8-15 GPM range, it will produce about 1500 pound feet of torque. How big of a bit can I turn? Depends on the soil conditions, but also what your tractor can handle. 1 series, 16-18″ in sandy soil, but probably 12 in clay. For smaller tractors, the turning is less of the issue and the weight of the soil sticking to the bit plays a bigger role. For a 4 series, maybe as big as 24″ in sandy soils and 16-18″ in clay soils. It may stop, at times, but since you can reverse, you’ll typically be able to get the job done. If you’re building a deck, you should be fine. If you’re putting in 2 miles of fence with 18″ holes in clay, you probably want something bigger.
